Nelson Family Summer: A photographic tour

It is a little bit ironic that the title of our last post was titled "Ticked Off" because we received many a frustrated e-mail during the summer asking whether we intended to update our blog or just give up on it, as so many do. We are pleased to say that our blog is back in action, and we intend to compensate for the lapse by chronicling the summer with a single, epic post.

Our summer began in Charlottesville, where Nick did research at the law school for Prof. Lillian BeVier during the month of May.

The family enjoyed the more relaxed schedule that allowed us to spend more time together. But the break was to be short-lived. Next it was on to Dallas, where Nadine and the kids spent the following six weeks at her parents' house. They spent time with Nadine's sisters, one of whom lives in Dallas and another who was visiting. They spent a day at the Dallas Arboretum:

Meanwhile, Nick continued on to Houston for a six-week internship at Bracewell & Giuliani. He spent three weeks in the corporate section and then three weeks in the litigation section.

Nick drove to Dallas on the weekends, which gave him enough time to listen to the first four Harry Potter books on tape.

In late July, we drove from Dallas to Utah, where we attended two family reunions on Nadine's side...

...and stayed with Nick's wonderfully generous sister and brother-in-law and their beautiful boys.

Then it was on to Spokane, Washington to visit Nick's parents. Nick flew to Dallas for a one-week internship at Haynes and Boone. With Nick gone, Nadine subjected Eric to a less-than-macho tea party.

Nick's sister Kristen returned from an 18-month mission to Finland, which naturally meant a family photo shoot.

(decoy deer not part of the formal photo shoot)

We flew back to Charlottesville just in time for Nick to start interviewing for a job for next summer. Thanks to some very nice neighbors and friends, we were moved into our apartment just in time.

The End.

Hurrah for resurrected blogs! Those cousins (Nadine's side) look a lot like Audrey and Eric.
